Mental Health and Performance Coaching
Mental health and performance coaching is a specialised form of coaching that blends principles from psychology, personal development, and high-performance training. Its primary aim is to help individuals improve their mental well-being while also enhancing their performance in personal, academic, or professional areas.
Mental Health Coaching
Focuses on:
-
Emotional regulation – learning to manage stress, anxiety, and mood.
-
Building resilience – developing coping strategies and mental toughness.
-
Improving self-awareness – understanding personal triggers, habits, and thought patterns.
-
Life balance – establishing healthy routines and boundaries.
Note: Mental health coaches are not therapists. They do not treat clinical disorders (e.g., major depression, PTSD), but they can support overall well-being and collaborate with therapists if needed.
Performance Coaching
Focuses on:
-
Goal-setting and achievement – helping clients set clear, actionable goals.
-
Motivation and mindset – overcoming procrastination and developing a growth mindset.
-
Productivity and focus – improving time management and reducing distractions.
-
Skill development – enhancing specific competencies, such as leadership or communication.
Combined Approach
When combined, mental health and performance coaching:
-
Helps individuals identify and address mental barriers that limit their performance.
-
Encourages sustainable growth, balancing ambition with emotional health.
-
Is popular among entrepreneurs, executives, athletes, students, and creatives.
